# Nitrokey 3A NFC : RSA 4096

Hi,

I tried to generate RSA 4096 keys on the Nitrokey 3A and received the following error:

```auto
gpg: key generation failed: Card error
Key generation failed: Card error

```

Is there a target date when generating RSA4096 keys will be possible in the Nitrokey 3 itself?

```

This error also appears when generating RSA2048 keys on the same **Nitrokey 3A NFC**.

The solution to this problem was to _factory-reset_ the Nitrokey and start the generate process again using `gpg --edit-card` in admin mode.
