NitroPad X230 camera and microphone

I am playing with my new Nitropad X230 and I can’t make my camera nor microphone works in Ubuntu (default as delivered installation).

Tried with cheese, no device detected, I can’t record audio in Gnome settings.

lsubs gives nothing important for the camera:

$ lsusb | grep -i cam

How can I proceed?

Hi @luke!

Could you paste what is returned by the following?

$ dmesg | grep -e camera -e sound -i

# dmesg | grep -e camera -e sound -i
[ 11.246466] input: HDA Intel PCH Mic as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1b.0/sound/card0/input9
[ 11.246515] input: HDA Intel PCH Dock Mic as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1b.0/sound/card0/input10
[ 11.246556] input: HDA Intel PCH Headphone as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1b.0/sound/card0/input11
[ 11.246598] input: HDA Intel PCH Dock Headphone as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1b.0/sound/card0/input12
[   11.246639] input: HDA Intel PCH HDMI/DP,pcm=3 as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1b.0/sound/card0/input13
[   11.246696] input: HDA Intel PCH HDMI/DP,pcm=7 as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1b.0/sound/card0/input14
[   11.246758] input: HDA Intel PCH HDMI/DP,pcm=8 as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1b.0/sound/card0/input15

Please note, that audio works well.

Thank you. I will pass this to our NitroPad engineers. I believe you should have the Camera listed here, but I cannot see it in your listing.

As for microphone, all devices are detected.

  1. Can you check if the correct microphone device is selected, and is not muted globally?
  2. Perhaps repeatedly pressing the keyboard button for mic muting could reset the state?

Hi Szczepan,

Thanks for forwading the webcam issue.

About audio, I used audio-recorder app, and when I select “Built-in Audio Analog Stereo (Microphone)” and record, the result file is “szszszszsz” only (just some white noise).

Playing with mute/unmute microphone key solves nothing.

I plugged in headphones with microphone to the jack port. After recording, the voice was there, but with very loud white noise comparing. I’ll dig more about it, but if such problem is known let me know. (To be sure: I am successfully using those headphones in all other equipment).

Hello Łukasz,

Sorry for the delay. We believe this is a hardware problem specific to your unit.
Please write to shop@nitrokey to ask for replacement/fix and linking to this conversation. Thank you!

Best regards,
