App2 cryptography package breaking ProtonVPN

I have a Nitrokey 3a mini v. 1.7.2 and app2 v. 2.3.2.

I have been unable to install ProtonVPN. I contacted Proton about this and did some troubleshooting, and Proton’s technical support says that “… it seems like you have pip-installed the cryptography package, overriding Ubuntu’s python3-cryptography and breaking python3-openssl” They say that this package appears to have been installed via pip, and that it should be uninstalled.

I never use pip because I’m scared of it, and in fact I use Python very little, so I suspect that the pip-installed cryptography package was installed as part of the installation of your Nitrokey app2.

First, please confirm whether that is true.

Second, if that is true, please explain what I have to do to remove the pip-installed cryptography package.

Third, if removing the pip-installed cryptography package will break app2, please tell me how to uninstall app2 altogether: For me it is more important to be able to use ProtonVPN than to be able to use Nitrokey.

Thank you for your help with this matter.

I forgot to include information about my system:

Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS

Gnome 42.9

Windowing system Wayland

I have figured out the problem. There is no conflict between App2 cryptography package and ProtonVPN.
