I’ve installed Qubes 4.2.3 on my NitroPC1. The installation appears clean – no errors or warnings, runs to completion, and I’m able to reboot into the new OS. However, there is only a black screen on startup with no console prompt, not startup trace, no graphics. The disk password is accepted and the fan spins up, but nothing more. I can reboot and get to the BIOS prompts.
I gather from other posts that some OS revisions don’t work. Perhaps that is true of Qubes 4.2.3? I’m a novice with Qubes and NitroPC1 and would be grateful for any suggestions.
Great if it works!
But still, it makes me wonder: AFAIK the only difference the OEM image has with the official Qubes release, is that the NitrokeyApp is pre-installed (so you don’t have to install it manually yourself.) To my knowledge, both should work the same - except you won’t have the NK App if using Qubes’s official release.
This could hint at a possible problem with the latest 4.2.3 image on this specific device - the OEM image usually being one or two iterations behind the official Qubes release.
Or there could be more differences now, than just the NK App being added to the official release…
from what I remeber there are some differences with the OEM, not just the app installed
The NitroPC1 has a very delicate firmware, booting from USB is maddening for example
You have to know which usb port to use and which not and where to plug the keyboard and where not and when and when not.
That to me suggests there is more at hand than a simple app added to the OEM image.
