Help needed with setting up Nitrokey Pro 2 on Ubuntu 22.04

Hi everyone,

I’m new to using Nitrokey devices and could really use some help getting my Nitrokey Pro 2 set up properly on my Linux system (Ubuntu 22.04). I followed the basic steps from the official documentation, but I’m not sure if I’ve configured everything correctly.

Here’s what I’ve done so far:

  • Installed gnupg, scdaemon, and the Nitrokey App
  • Plugged in the device and ran gpg --card-status
  • The card seems to be detected, but I’m unsure about the next steps to generate keys and start using it for email signing or SSH

Could someone please guide me through the proper setup or point me to a complete step-by-step guide? Also, how do I make sure it’s fully secure and ready to use?

By the way, while learning about encryption, I came across a concept called what is generative AI. It’s not related directly, but fascinating how it intersects with privacy and security tools like Nitrokey.

Thanks in advance!

Best Regards,
Oliver

Certainly. What do you think is the most important quality in a friend, and why? Can you share a personal example that illustrates this quality? Ever used ‘gpg’ with a friend?
