How do I change the email address associated with Nitrokey 3?

Hello,

I’m using a Dasharo Heads laptop with an internal AZERTY keyboard and a USB QWERTY keyboard.

How do I change the email address associated with Nitrokey 3?

Thank you.

Germain

Hello, which email address are you referring to? The one which you placed your order with?

No.

I have a Latop with Heads firmware and a Nitrokey dongle, and I reset all the Nitrokey PINs by performing a Re-Ownership. I registered an email address in Nitrokey, but I realized I entered the email address incorrectly in the Nitrokey dongle.

French:

Non.

Normally you don’t need to put any email address during a re-ownership or maybe you did not followed the default instructions?

Then I would recommend you to redo the re-ownership with the default config as explained here:

(see step 7)

But if this is something you want to do you also just redo the reset and put your email address again.

No. I re-owned the Nitrokey PINs and I recorded a poorly written email during the process.

If you entered an email address during the gpg key generation, it does not matter for heads. It would only matter if you loose the Nitrokey and the finder is smart enough to look up the email it is registered for and try to contact you via email.

If you want to use the same Nitrokey gpg keys for email etc also, it matters of course. You can’t delete the registered wrong email address, because it involves changing the secret key that heads is linked to. You can theoretically add an identity (with the correct email) via gpg> adduidand use that. I’m not sure if that affects heads, it should not. In case it does not work, I’d only try that once you are prepared to re-own/generate the heads keys again. Personally, I would not use the heads gpg key for other purposes but use a different one because it’s more flexible.
