Is the Clevo NV41MZ compatible with the Nitrokey Heads firmware?

I have a used 11th Gen Clevo NV41MZ and search for a good firmware.

It seems Novacustom doesnt support it anymore, and their build system is pretty confusing.

I saw that you ship precompiled coreboot roms for nv41 nitropads, but afaik these should be at least 12th gen.

Could you tell me possible issues when using that, or isnt it even possible?

Hello, yes Dasharo + Heads is available even for 11th generation CPU.

This is great! I will try to flash it soon.

Ironically, Heads reacts better when the TPM is missing, while Dasharo has like a 30 seconds wait time and displays an error screen.

Do you know about dedicated TPMs? My NV41MZ has none, just the fTPM in the Intel ME, which is disabled so the fTPM is gone. I would like to put in a real TPM.

Your NV41MZ should have a dedicated TPM2.0 chip.

Is Heads also printing errors about TPM chip somehow missing when booting ?

Didnt flash heads yet as I am scared to brick my main work laptop.

I am sure it has no TPM, just the fTPM in the intel ME.

I got the laptop from a random seller on ebay

I understand, specially if you don’t have any external flasher.

Is you motherboard looking the same as this one:

?

I will need to check the differences

It looks different, so it’s possible that you don’t have any TPM chip.
I’m not sure where the TPM chip is exactly located on this laptop but it should have “infineon” wrote on it.

Do you have any warning lines mentioning TPM when you boot on Heads ?

But wait maybe the picture I’ve sent is of the 12th generation motherboard which is probably different from the 11th.

Yes mine is 11th gen.

I dont have Heads on that yet, as I dont have a paid dasharo heads subscription and am not sure if the Nitrokey nv41 heads firmware works on my NV41MZ

Hey there, an update

I am currently reading the result of the software flash from the Winbond chip on my NV41MZ.

The BIOS rom is 16MB in size, while the downloadeable Nitrokey is 32MB.

Is this just empty space or will this simply not be compatible?

Could I use something of the config to compile my own coreboot + heads ROM?

Thanks a lot!

Yes this is normal because we only sell 12th generation CPU of NV41 this version is different from the 11th version.

The 12th have a 32MB BIOS ROM size the 11th have 16.
