I inserted the Nitrokey 3A mini in a cheap mPCIe-USB adapter from Aliexpress.

The goal is to use an internal USB port in the Thinkpad T430 with Heads, and have the nitrokey inside as the secure storage of the secrets.

The adapter was too tight, pulling the key from the keychain ripped apart the dark plastic part and it came apart

There may be a need to improve on the stability of the parts. I will try to glue it together again.

A mini variant with USB-c could also be interesting, and make sense.

I think the newer ones have a drop of glue to counter this issue. Mine also easily disassembles itself when the port holds it tight. Luckily, it can be assembled again with no harm done.

Mind to share a picture?

I thought about it and adding some “Widerhaken” into the metal case, to increase the grip on the plastic, could work too.

Or roughening the metal, again to increase friction
