Hello.
I want to create a small batch of Nitrokey 3A Mini for personal use. I have found out that Nitrokey is open-source, and I want to order a PCB from the external factory.
I have certain questions that I cannot find an answer for anywhere:
- Is this GitHub repo up-to-date? GitHub - Nitrokey/nitrokey-3a-mini-nrf52-hardware: Nitrokey 3 USB-A Mini NRF52 hardware
- What PCB thickness is required for Nitrokey 3A mini nrf52? Since it should fit inside the USB plug, this is critical for PCB order.
- Where do I find a 3D model for the case spacer to be 3D printed?
- What external USB (metallic) case is used in Nitrokey 3A mini? Can you share part number (or link where to buy it), since it is absent in BOM in the provided repo?
Image for 3 and 4 questions accordingly:
Thank you
Hello,
To answer your questions:
-
Is the GitHub repo up-to-date?
The GitHub repo for Nitrokey 3A Mini is generally maintained, but I recommend checking the commit history or reaching out to the Nitrokey community for confirmation on whether it’s the most up-to-date version.
-
PCB thickness for Nitrokey 3A Mini NRF52:
Typically, the PCB thickness should be around 1.6mm, as this is a common standard for USB devices and will likely fit within the USB plug. You should confirm this by checking the dimensions of the casing you plan to use.
-
3D model for the case spacer:
The 3D model for the case spacer may not be directly available in the GitHub repository, but it’s a good idea to contact Nitrokey or check forums for any design files shared by the community.
-
External USB case used in Nitrokey 3A Mini:
The specific metallic case isn’t listed in the BOM, but you could consider reaching out to Nitrokey for the exact part number or check with manufacturers of USB enclosures to find something that fits the dimensions.
Best of luck with your project!
