I own a NitroPC 1 purchased about 2½–3 years ago.
From the beginning, one limitation has been particularly problematic for me: after a power outage, the system does not automatically power on again.
A few years ago Nitrokey Support explained that this was caused by a firmware limitation and that a future firmware update was planned.
Later I was informed that this update would unfortunately never become available for the NitroPC 1 and that Nitrokey would instead offer an exchange to the successor model.
Since I currently live in overseas, I have not yet had the opportunity to travel to Germany and therefore have not made use of the exchange offer.
My questions today are:
- Has anything changed regarding the NitroPC 1 since then?
- Is there now any supported firmware update or other solution that enables automatic power-on after AC power loss?
- If not, is the motherboard power-button header suitable for an external hardware solution that simulates pressing the power button after power is restored?
Reliable unattended restart is very important in my environment because power outages occur regularly.
