My Nitrokey 3A NFC’s USB connector has worn out. I have to put pressure on it to make good contact. I would estimate ~ 2000 insertions and removals. About 2 years old. 
Is it normal?

To be fair I have shoved it in some pretty janky ports during its life with me. I’m not trying to be bad for business i’m just curious. I really like my Nitrokey. Security-wise it has done very well.
Can’t comment on normal. My 3C still works, but I use it very rarely. But I have similar problems with other USB sticks. I tend to use magnetic adaptors nowadays to remove the stress (on both sides). Probably should also do that with the 3C
whats that? a magnetic USB port?
What I use for charging my devices is small plug with a magnetic contact (which goes into the phone/device) and a corresponding cable which goes into the power source. The plug just sits in the device, so there is no wear on it. Did not check data transfer yet, but should exist/work, also in a smaller form factor suitable for usb sticks.
googling “magnetic usb connector” or “magnetic usb adapter” should suffice.
