NW750 cellular interface gone

I have 2 NW750 devices. One is in use for over half a year. Recently it stopped working for me, and i’m not sure what the source of the change is. Factory reset did not fix it.

The device no longer works as a router with the cellular interface being the method of accessing the internet. This is the case for both connected devices as well as the device itself (UI showing problems accessing internet and CLI access via SSH also shows it has no internet). It seems that the cellular/modem interface is no longer present/active/working on the device. I checked the following:

  • Multi-WAN page shows Ethernet, Repeater, and Tethering, but not Cellular/Modem. It used to be there, it is now missing.
  • The modem interface is not present on the advanced web ui’s devices listing (i’m not sure if it used to be there before)
  • In an ssh session, using the cli commands “ap a” and “ifconfig” both do not show anything about the modem

The main overview on the web UI does show the sim connects to the network, so that part somehow still functions. But it does not seem to have the capability of routing wifi connected devices to it anymore, nor does the device itself recognize it as a way for accessing internet.

When i factory reset it, the advanced web console shows the following message when i go to the interfaces screen:

Network ifname configuration migration

The existing network configuration needs to be changed for LuCI to function properly.

Upon pressing “Continue”, ifname options will get renamed and the network will be restarted to apply the updated configuration.

The weirdest thing is, i started my second NW750 up for the first time, and it has this problem already without me doing anything on it. I put a new topped-up working sim in it before turning it on, and left it for 2 hours before i opened up the WebUI. So I’m not sure if it auto-updated into a non-functional version for example.

It has the following firmware:

Version4.0
Firmware Type0312release4
Compile Time2024-04-10 18:47:38(UTC+08:00)

Is anyone else experiencing the same?
