I’m using a Nitrokey 3A (firmware versions: 1.8.1 and 1.8.3) on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. The documentation mentions that the User PIN can be up to 127 characters long, but when I try to set a PIN longer than around 80-90 characters, I get an error that the PIN is too long.
I’ve tried both the default GnuPG (2.2.27) and the latest GnuPG (2.4.0 and 2.4.8), but the result is the same.
Has anyone successfully set a 127-character PIN?
I’ve also tried on an open source application on windows10 pro and ubuntu 24, but did not get the required results.
Is this a limitation from GnuPG, libccid, or something specific to the Nitrokey firmware?
