Nitrokey 3A Mini not detected on OSX

I am trying to setup the 3A Mini on a Macbook with vivaldi browser and nextcloud as a webauth device. It does not recognize the device though. I can do the same with my Nitrokey 3C just fine, so I assume it somehow does not detect the 3A for some reason. Using nitropy I am facing the same issue as described here: Nitropy on OSX won't detect Nitrokey 3A Mini So I guess it is a hardware issue?
